Abstract Based on the analysis of the social background of self-driving tourism and the basic behavior characteristics of self-driving tourists, the paper analyses the developing condition, the present conditions and the existed problems of self-driving tourism in the city of Zhaoqing, the traditional tourism destination in Guangdong. The paper thinks that it has much advantageous factors for Zhaoqing to develop self-driving tourism, such as the special niche and resource advantages, the brand effect to the Zhaoqing, the beneficial environment of tourism development, etc; tourism industry in Zhaoqing has made some work in order to develop the self-droving tourism in recent years,and the self-driving tourism market has formed initially, Zhaoqing has a certain position for a weekend self-driving tourism destination in Guangdong. But there also have some deep problems which should be resolved. It still has a few distances to a mature self-driving tourism destination for Zhaoqing, for instance, the road marking system is still not enough perfect; lacking perfect network schedules and service system for self-driving tourist; lacking motels; lacking rescuing organization for the self-driving tourist's safety; lacking detailed research on self-driving tourism market, etc. It is still a new thing for Zhaoqing's tourism section to manage and sell the self-driving tourism market usually. If these problems have not been resolved, it is a disadvantage for Zhaoqing to develop the self-driving tourism healthily.
Based on some investigation on self-driving tourists in Zhaoqing, the paper puts forward some strategies of the deeply exploiting self-driving tourism's product in Zhaoqing systematically. These measures include enriching the driving tourism's circuit through tourism resources integration and cooperating with around districts; perfecting the highway network, the transportation's signs and the self-driving service station's construction; Strengthening the tourism information system, especially on the functions of network's schedule and service; Quickening the construction of motels, other cheap hotels and automobile encampments; establishing the long effect mechanism to guarantee the self-driving tourism's development healthily, etc. These measures will benefit Zhaoqing to become a mature destination for self-driving tourism.
